Eight months later, he hasn’t let up.
In an address to US Bishops, he called on them to “flee the temptation of narcissism” by making sure to always engage with issues larger than the church.
This extends naturally from his earlier comments, where he criticized church officials who prioritize careerism and behave “rigid, tough, and arrogant” to those working beneath them.
The Pope’s continuing powerful, frank comments about the Church point to a cultural transformation still underway. Here’s hoping he can push the church towards a positive and stable culture.
